Mission

The Colorado Dragon Boat Alliance’s (CODA) primary mission is to promote dragon boat racing in Colorado by providing training opportunities to learn about and participate in the sport.

Values

CODA is an all-inclusive organization that serves the dragon boat paddling community of Colorado – regardless of fitness level or paddling skill.
All members can expect honesty, integrity, and respect – free from discrimination or harassment of any form. CODA reveres experience, commitment, attitude, sportsmanship, collaboration, and leadership as foundational pillars and expects to see these values represented within each of its passionate paddlers.

Vision

CODA aims to promote dragon boat racing as a lifelong enjoyment sport throughout the state of Colorado through sport-specific education in the form of technique, physical fitness, team building, and racing.

The Board

Jean Nguyenloc

Jean Nguyenloc is Vice President of Communications for CODA. In this role, she oversees events, scheduling, marketing, PR, and team communications. Jean first learned how to paddle in 2006 and has gotten increasingly more involved in the dragon boat community over the years. When she is not on the water, you will find Jean outside hiking, running, mountain biking, or snowboarding. By day, Jean is a Director of Campus Operations at STRIVE Prep, a network of public charter schools in Denver.

Jeffrey Dang

Jeff Dang is the President of Colorado Dragon Boat Alliance. Jeff helped kick off the organization in 2017. He started paddling for the University of Colorado Denver team and coached the team for several years. Jeff’s passion lies with people and their individual development. Outside of dragon boating, he runs his own branding consulting company and loves spending time outdoors with friends and family. Today, Jeff works at Oracle as a project training specialist.

Freddie Tsao

Freddie is the VP of Operations. He is an avid traveler and rabid 49ers fan, but his first love is his wife Babette closely follows by his twins Jensen and Lydia.  Freddie is the captain of Agua Libre, a dragon boat team made of friends, families, and faculty of Denver Language School.  Freddie has only been dragon boating for 3 years, but quickly found this to be a great passion of his and wants to ensure this sport not only sustains but proliferates throughout Colorado so every has a chance to catch the fever.

Rae Migliorini

Rae Migliorini is Treasurer for CODA, where she oversees the financial operations of the club. Rae started paddling with CU Denver in 2019 and now paddles with the club team, Team CODA. Rae works as a software engineer and project manager at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. In her free time, Rae enjoys playing video games, spending time with her friends and cat, and staying active outdoors.

Matthew McCoo

Matthew McCoo is the secretary for CODA. He fell in love with dragon boat as it was an amazing way to build a community and home at CU Denver. He has been paddling for 5 years now and has been able to travel both out of state and out of the country. He hopes to expand Colorado’s presence nationally and internationally as he believes the dragon boat community of Colorado has a lot to offer these larger communities. He works as a perioperative scheduler but will be attending masters school in the fall.
